Chris D. Jackson is a county commissioner who represents the second district in Lawrence County. First elected in August 2006, he is the youngest person ever elected to public office in Lawrence County.
A lifelong resident of Loretto, Jackson attended Loretto High School and attended the University of North Alabama where he earned a degree in political science and a minor in criminal justice.
Jackson is an active member and past vice president of the Loretto Lions Club. He is also a member of the Lawrence County Public Records Commission, the
Elected to the county commission in 2006 at the age of 19, Jackson became the youngest person ever to hold office in Lawrence County. On August
5, 2010 Jackson won re-election as county commissioner
garnering 62% of the vote.
During his time in office, Jackson has worked hard to
improve the lives of the citizens of the 2nd District and
Lawrence County as a whole by responsibly addressing
the problems presently facing our county while
progressively investing in areas that are vital to our
county's future success.
He has distinguished himself as being a leader on big
issues such as lowering the property tax, bettering our
school system, making sure county government is fiscally
responsible, ensuring the public's safety and running rural
water lines to citizens who need water.
In May of 2011, Jackson was selected by the National
Associations of Counties (NACo) as one of 100 elected
officials from around the nation to participate in a meeting
at the White House in Washington D.C. to discuss the
issues confronting local governments.
Representing a new generation of leadership that puts the
people's interests first, Jackson's main goal as county commissioner is to move our county forward so future generations have the opportunity to live, work and raise their family in Lawrence County as past generations have been able to do.

Lawrence County Resource Conservation and Development program as well as the Young Elected Officials Network. On the county commission, he serves as Chairman of the Technology Committee and the Energy Efficiency Committee.
He works full time at the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department as the Administrative Clerk, where he does the department's payroll, accounting and helps prepare the department for the yearly audit conducted by the State. Jackson also serves as a Tennessee Notary Public.
